Document Scanning

The DIGITAL PENCIL can scan your documents and store them on a 3.5" floppy disk or a CD-ROM for easy retrieval.

The documents are scanned and then processed with optical character recognition (OCR) software. The documents can contain pictures, text, tables, or a combination of each.

Once the document is processed it is proof read and checked for accuracy in spelling and layout.

The document is then stored on a CD-ROM for your records.

If you don't have a suitable software program for viewing the document we can include a free version of Adobe Acrobat Reader for you to install on your computer.

Documents can also be stored in a format for viewing as WEB Pages with your internet browser.

  • If the scanned document is saved in a general text format without keeping the page layout properties more pages can be stored.

 

  
 

Graphics Services

The DIGITAL PENCIL can perform a variety of graphics services:
  • Scan Logos and place them on disk for use in letterhead, WEB Pages, etc, etc...
  • Scan and retouch old Photographs to remove scratches, tears, and blemishes.
  • Design Custom WEB graphics for use on your WEB page.

CD-ROM Storage

CD-ROM is an excellent storage media. Unlike the magnetic disks (3.5" floppies), CD-ROMs will not be erased accidentally by formatting or magnetic fields. Once it is write protected it can only be read from and will not lose its data. However, the CD can be rendered useless due to careless handling if the data side is scratched. If a CD is handled properly the data on it will last a lifetime. Many manufacturers advertise the data on the CD will maintain its integrity for 100+ years.

Not only is the CD excellent because of its integrity but the CD-ROM will also hold over 400 more times the data as a standard 3.5" floppy disk.

 
One CD-ROM which can be used for all of the jobs below can cost as little as $1.00 for the CD.(Charges are extra for the actual transfer of data onto the CD-ROM.)
USES FOR CD-ROM:
  • Backup of hard drive data.
  • Storage of important documents:  Insurance documents, legal paperwork, reports, financial statements...
  • Make family photo albums to give to family members for viewing on their computers. One CD will hold hundreds of high quality pictures that can be stored in a variety of formats for viewing with various programs. A photo album can even be put together in a WEB page format so the user can view it using their WEB Browser.
  • Store photographs for insurance purposes. An entire household can be photographed and stored on a CD-ROM in a safe deposit box for detailed and accurate insurance claims.
  • Scan and record your child's schoolwork as a photo album.
  • Put your web site on "Business Card" CD-Rom for mailing to clients as advertisement.
  • The uses are only limited by the imagination. Anything a floppy disk or other storage device is used for, a CD-ROM can also be used for.
